    • Synopsis
    • From a backwater in Iceland, Disa has dreamed of cooking in London’s premiere restaurant of the time, Boulestin. Via family friends in Rekjavik she gets a position in a country house hotel in Cornwall, owned by Anthony, who has deep secrets of his own. Disa forms a strong bond with Anthony but also falls madly in love with a young German Jewish immigrant. When war comes, both are forced to flee separately as foreign nationals. Disa’s time back in Iceland is fraught with challenges, with the German threat imminent, personal trauma and then British invasion. Her return to England brings loss and tragedy but also new understanding, with her life’s journey, love and politics redefining the meaning of home for her.
