      Target: Young Adults (15 - 25)

Partition 2030 is set in the future of a dystopic Canada. This animated sci-fi drama series is aimed towards young adults/adults, and surrounds Max and Roxy, a young couple of South Indian, Tamil descent. They are enthralled in the beginning of the series when they discover Roxy is pregnant but this comes during the backdrop of a radical political group, the PNP, taking power in Canada. Rampant racial discrimination and political unrest blanket the country and their community. What seemed like hate-rhetoric at first becomes all too real as the new laws cause protests and rioting along with the resulting crack-down by the radical government’s paramilitary police force. All People of Colour and minorities are deported violently to a Partitioned land.

Max is killed and Roxy is separated from her family. On a quest to fend for her own through the forests of Ontario, survival guides her every move. She meets Dheeran, a man who claims to have lived in her neighborhood but is also separated from his family. What Roxy does not know is, Dheeran is communicating with her from the future through a maternal connection that is discovered on the planet several humans escape to after a world war. Roxy is on a quest to find her family with the help of Dheeran. Partition 2030 raises questions about family, home and belonging, and calls into question the desire to bring a child into a world with such an unstable political climate.
