In an attempt to give sense to the complete vacuity which reigned the Argentina of the 90's, and provided with a hypnotic bass, savage drumms and a book of notes as romantic as apocalyptic, Nochteff, Aldana and Amodio assaulted the stages of Buenos Aires under the defying name of Dios

    • Synopsis
    • “The music of Dios (God) is like Buenos Aires: at times claustrophobic, hypnotically repetitive, festive (but with a train roaring in the back),” someone wrote once about the band formed by Tomas Nochteff (bass), Pedro Amodio (vocals), and Javier Aldana (drums). One hundred percent guitar-free, Dios materialized fleetingly in the Nineties’ wasteland (an ominous void that appears over and over in the documentary’s testimonies like a recurring group nightmare) to secretly save local rock music. The program of their post-punk revolution was as simple as unheard of: making music while everyone was trying to make money; copying from their heroes (Velvet Underground, Sun Ra, Sonic Youth…) the idea that you don’t have to copy from anyone, not even your heroes. From their beginnings taking other people’s stages by assault, to the almost posthumous recording of their only album (Dios, from 2001, courtesy of the great Gonzalo Córdoba), Mariano Báez reconstructs in detail the great history of these determined and insane champions who fought against everybody including themselves… and never lost.
