    • Synopsis
    • Sofie and Daan are twins, but that is all there is to it. They cannot seem to get along, their lifestyles are just too different for this. Sofie is single and she lives for her work. She is the editor of a magazine and she is rather hard on herself. Daan is married to Joost. She prefers to avoid conflicts, tries to keep things good-humored at all times, and she hardly ever stands up for herself. Joost wants kids, but that doesn’t seem to work out. Then there is a phone call that turns the twin sisters’ lives upside down. Their biological mother has been hospitalized in America with a complicated bone fracture. Sofie and Daan have never met her, because she was merely their surrogate mother. Their fathers, Harm and Marcel, really wanted children and Jackie turned out to be their solution. Daan, who has always fantasized about her biological mother, would love to go to America. Sofie does not want to go. She is way to busy with her magazine en she is not interested in the ‘egg cell supplier’, as she likes to cal her. Daan manages to persuade her though, and thus an unexpected journey begins. Jackie turns out to be anything but the mother the sisters had expected her to be. She lives in an old trailer, looks terrible and is far from social. Sofie figured they could ‘quickly’ fly Jackie to the rehabilitation centre, but it does not work out that way. Because Jackie cannot drive and, due to a ruptured eardrum, cannot fly either, Sofie is forced to drive the old rust bucket straight through the New Mexico dessert. Along the way they get to know themselves, each other and their special mother. Unknowingly it turns out to be trip of their lives. Through trial and error they shall have to part with their entrenched self image and their familiar habits. This will change their lives for ever...
