- Synopsis
- A middle-aged midwife, Marta, shelters the daughter of her Ukrainian husband. She settles the 18-year-old Hanna in her own home, which is located in a small fishing town on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Marta has been dreaming of a child for a long time, so she surrounds the girl with love and affection. Unexpectedly, Hanna reciprocates and even starts calling her "mom". A close bond develops between the
  women, which worries Marta's husband, Volodymyr. When he mentions that it's time for Hanna to return to her mother, Marta takes the girl's side and refuses to let her go. However, Hanna's behaviour changes soon. She steals Marta's things, locks her room with a key as if she is hiding something, and scares the couple with a strange, terrifying look. Then Hanna announces that her mother, Volodymyr's ex-wife, whom she has invited to visit the couple's house, will join them. But suddenly, it turns out that the woman is dead - she has been killed. Marta's life is in danger. Hanna takes her to the sea at night, where both women almost die. When Hanna regains consciousness, she does not remember the events of the past weeks and the way that she has she ended up in Poland. Doctors diagnose her with memory loss due to psychological trauma. And a medical examination shows that the girl is pregnant.
  Hanna gradually remembers what happened to her. She was raped by a Russian soldier as she was hiding in the basement of a house in Irpin with her mother. But
  she managed to escape. Hanna asks Marta to help her get an abortion. However, the procedure is prohibited by Polish law. Will the woman break the law in the
  religious Catholic town where most residents consider abortion to be a sin? And will she be able to interrupt the child's life when she herself dreams of giving birth?
