    • Synopsis
    • BULLETS is about ten-year-old Abdi who grows up in one of these particularly vulnerable areas. He has an aptitude for school, and his teacher Ali, who himself has come from a similar background, encourages and supports him.
      But when his friend Bashir is asked to start dealing for the local gang, Abdi gets drawn ever deeper into the criminal activities taking place all around him.
      Bashir soon gets into trouble and Abdi is forced to help him out of a tight corner, but in doing so he inadvertently discloses the whereabouts of the gang’s hideout to a rival network. The rival gang launches a retaliatory raid, in which one of the gang members is killed and for which Abdi gets the blame.
      Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Abdi, his teacher Ali tries desperately to find him since he hasn’t showed up for school in some time, despite previously having shown himself to be a willing student who was making great progress.
      Inflamed emotions following the shooting lead to Abdi being assigned the task of avenging the attack. The gang takes advantage of the fact that Abdi is small enough to be able to crawl in through a ventilation shaft and drop a hand grenade into the rival gang’s hideout. But Ali gets wind of what’s about to go down and alerts the police.
      In the attempt to disarm Abdi, the grenade detonates and blows up a police car. And even though the planned attack fails, Abdi is hailed as a hero. Ali can only stand helplessly by and watch as news of Abdi’s exploit spreads through the neighbourhood and he is welcomed into the fold as a new member of the gang.
