Elisa (18) lives in a desolate and austere world where young people who come of age are forced to migrate to the North, now Elisa must search for her destiny conditioned by a society that seems to be dystopian but that perhaps is not so different to the one that surrounds us.

    • Synopsis
    • Elisa (18) lives in a huge housing complex in a bleak city where there are massive fumigations and no pets, and most people are old and she’s the only and last young woman. Youths are sent North: a promised land where they say sunsets are longer, a place where history is being made every day. Elisa is about to begin the adaptation process, prior to her traveling North.

      Elisa works by night in a factory, making speakers that recreate pet sounds, and lives with her mother, Nélida (55), who works by day. They share breakfast, whiskey and a soap opera. Elisa’s big sister went North some time ago and now they know little of her.

      Leonor (37), her new neighbor, starts to show concern for Elisa. Soon, Leonor will help Elisa find out that her body scent is a treasure for many people, people who are also willing to pay for the chance of smelling her. So, Elisa stops showering and parades before her clients, who smell her blindfolded and with their hands bound. This, which at the beginning seems to be an easy way of making money, soon begins to awake stormy passions.

      Soon Elisa finds out that the system will disable her if she refuses to go North, and if she accepts, there’s almost no chance that she will see her mother again. She also won’t be able to nap and will be just “functioning”, since it seems that in the North there’s neither room for leisure nor for nostalgia or regrets.

      Now Elisa must choose: a fixed path set by others, or an uncertain one set by herself.
