Wlodzimierz NIDERHAUS (WFDIF - DOCUMENTARY & FEATURE FILM STUDIO)
This is story of family-owned corsetmaker shop. For many years during the time of PRL, Dawid Zucker has been supplying hand-made bras to both party officials’ wives and stars of the stage. But today, the clientele at the Leszno shop has dried up because they all prefer inexpensive if shoddy Chinese goods. The aging master tailor and his sister, the owners of the corset shop take on the Chinese bra competition employing diversionary methods. The “Don Quixotes” of fledgling capitalism will face off against the Supermarket represented by the female chief of security – Trusty Wench. It is a funny, warm and nostalgic tale about people who dare to challenge the world of cheap, mass-produced imports. The corsetmaker shop seems to be an anachronism in the day of cheap products imported from Asia. Be that as it may, people who for various reasons decide to support the old craftsman, are able to form a real union which fights for the preservation of the old, forgotten world.
