    • Ziline is now from La Rioja, but she was from Haiti before. She was from a land destroyed by poverty and the deepest misery, a childhood full of needs and suffering. That might be the reason why she lives the present with determination and overwhelming charisma.
Everyone around Ziline feels moved by her art and acrobatics, her city, her parents, her reality, her past and fait.
That permanent movement takes her to only one place in her mind: The Latin American Vaulting Competence in Brazil, many kilometres away from her home today.
Vaulting is an equestrian sport, in which different acrobatic feats are performed over a horse galloping in circles, guided by a lunge line. But it is also the place where Ziline feels complete, a part of something.
She’s exceptional in this practice; she trains and puts all her effort to be the best. In her province this is an exotic and quite unknown sport. Ziline takes it all as a game. Her interest and body expression ability, and the circus activity help her when she performs over the horse. She is herself, relaxes and becomes one with the animal.
Training truly represents distancing herself from Haiti. Even when all of that is always present within her, in the way she behaves and sees everything, getting on the horse is detaching herself from earth and getting away from everything. And belonging there, for a moment.
But the more she heads towards the competition, more pictures from the past come to her mind. As if she had to embrace her origins, ask questions to herself and answer them to be able to meet her objective and fly.
Ziline has a long way ahead to relate to those places that will always be present within her. Then she will grow up and will try to keep those places as part of her identity without altering what makes her feel safe: her family and La Rioja, her adoptive place.
What is a mere moment for many, those few seconds in which she shows her art on a beautiful horse, is like an eternity for Ziline; there’s no time nor space, it is just her, floating and transcending, there´s nothing around, neither now nor then, less likely the ever present “BEFORE”.
