    • Synopsis
    • A 60 year-old farmer, Seishi Gondo, and his 58 year-old wife, Yasuko, flee their home after a nuclear power plant explodes. The couple loses a son and they are confined to temporary housing for three years.
      Yasuko, now suffering from a mental illness, begs Seishi to take her home. On a summer day they make the journey, Yasuko child-like and overwhelmed by the joy of coming home. Once back, she slowly starts grasping the truth as her memory floods back, and the two realize they cannot lie to themselves any longer. They decide on an alternative way to return to their true home and happiness.
      The next day, the couple drives through no man’s land to their favorite spot by a waterfall. Only the car stereo can be heard in the piercing silence, on the ground lie their lifeless bodies, hands tied together in red ribbon.
