    • Synopsis
    • “The Window” is the story of five strangers who meet with the purpose of performing a collective suicide. Ordinary people of different ages and social brackgrounds, without physical or mental disorders, that one day decide to leave everything and go off the system, die by their own hands. Without looking for a ritual or symbolic significance in this act, the five characters pledge to themselves to never reveal rhe reasons for its decision. The only thing that unites them is a commitment to meet at a beach house in Ventana, in the central coast of Chile, and commit suicide in front of a coast where the ocean is mixed with the waste flowing daily from the industrial complexes that frame the area.

The story is a portrait of five lonely characters who decide to move away from society and become marginal; but that without realizing, on their final days and hours, will build a micro-society inside the house they are briefly sharing on the beach. First, by creating habits, daily routine, then ties and relationships where we can see complicity and empathy, but also cruelty and relations of power and authority. A new family emerges from the solitude of these five strangers. A terminal and biter family, but a family at last.

As days pass, and they are inexorably walking toward death, the routine these characters create mixes with reflections upon suicide, often absurd and with black humor hints, and a growing tension in the coexistance of five borderline personalities, with views on life and death that are impossible to reconcile. For one of them, suicide is a game, the definite bet; for another, an act charged with an aesthetic significance; for another, only pain and loneliness. Everything under the shadow of Franco, a security guard who tries to impose his ambiguous vision of morality upon the confusion of those around him, to become the patriarch of this “new family”.

A story on terminal, suicidal, weird characters, on the eyes of the rest, but that brings a desolate look upon an equally alienated world back, the one they chose to leave behind.
