    • Synopsis
    • The Cromo hair salon in the Almagro neighborhood is –according to Julián Montero Ciancio, the film’s director– more than just a hair saloon. Actually, when you go to that hair salon you get more than just a haircut. Conversations, jokes, music, a particular relationship with hair stylist Juan María, of whom the director’s family has been a client for the past 15 years. Montero Ciancio proposed this hair-dresser-rocker-dreamer-comedian with opinions on Argentine cinema to make a film about him.
And that’s how While I’m Singing happened. Ok, that plus all this: a magnetic character, a clear and lucid perspective, and the welcomed modesty to never interfere with pretentious detours or useless delays. Juan María sustains and fuels this film with conversations, performances, dreams, genuine excentricity, and a special empathy with the cameras. In 41 minutes, While I’m Singing has much more power than quite a few films that last three times that. An endearing portrait-film that renews that
      wored down adjective.
