The events take place in the Harbiye district of Antakya in the year 1960, two months before the military intervention of May 27th. The story is told from the eyes of Cemal. Now a famous painter, Cemal goes back to his hometown years later and remembers his childhood. The economic and political situation of Turkey prior to May 27th is reflected by his family’s tragic story. While the continuous quarrels, accusations and hatred among family members is narrated ironically, the events centering around the Harbiye Waterfall lend a lyrical atmosphere to the film.
