    • Synopsis
    • Vinyland is a film project which started as the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the record shop Bloody Mary. It’s a musical feature film in which songs connect the different situations of the plot, and there are practically no dialogs. The only conversation takes place in a radio show, where the broadcaster interviews the main character, a 7” vinyl collector. Through the collector’s answers, which create a fragmented plot, we start learning aspects related with his musical tastes and life, from the day he bought his first vinyl to the present in an environment of live shows, also focusing on his childhood memories, the visits to record fairs, second hand shops and other specialized shops.

Vinyland is a docu-fiction which combines real filming of live shows or bands rehearsing in studios with a fictional plot that illustrates the unique personality of this vinyl collector, and speculating with an urban legend centered on the origin and quantity of his precious record collection. It is, therefore, a real character who lives intriguing situations, filled with mystery and surrealism.

Vinyland is a BLOODY MARY RECORDS and M&M FILMS production, which has been made possible with the collaboration of all the technical and artistic crew. Marcos Garcia directed, filmed and edited the movie, and Mikel Insausti wrote the script, and also co-directed. There are not professional actors, the ones in front of the camera are a group of friends lead by the 7” vinyl collector, JOL, playing himself, IÑIGO ART, playing the villain “Sherlock”, and FORKI as the radio show broadcaster.

Vinyland features music from international artists, and a third part of the music is composed with unreleased songs specifically written for the film (the incidental music is by Berta García) and the rest with existing songs. The film features songs from REDD KROSS, NIKKI HILL, TY SEGALL, JOHN PAUL KEITH, GRAHAM DAY, MIKAL CRONIN, JD McPHERSON, THE LOOKERS, THE HI-RISERS, THE SEE SEE, CANCER MOON, KURT BAKER, DR. MAHA’S MIRACLE TONIC, THE DIRTBOMBS, THE BOY SCOUTS, THE NOMADS, THE MAHARAJAS, EX-NOVIOS, GALLON DRUNK, PELO MONO, LIE DETECTORS, THE LIMBOOS, LAST FAIR DEAL, CHRIS KNOX, GUADALUPE PLATA, MICROCOSMOS, THE FLIGHT REACTION, and BALERDI BALERDI.
