    • Synopsis
    • Valo is a Dickens-like-story about smart and brave children. In the early 1900s, 9-year-old boy Valo and his friend Ville establish an own school for children to a small village. The children teach each others. But some adults in a village decide to put the end to it. Despite the strong resistance from adults, the children will not give up. They bring hope for a better future to the children in the village in a time when chil-dren had no rights.
Valo is a true story. The script is based by the authentic diaries of a child which were written over a hundred years ago. The script freely interprets the childhood diaries of artist and philosopher Aleksanteri Ahola-Valo, a Finnish-Ingrian who lived a colourful life in Russia, Finland and Sweden from 1900-1997.
Valo is a family film suitable for children aged 7-12 years.
"Valo comments on an issue of singular importance: children’s right to attend school." (UNICEF, the official collaborator of Valo)
