    • "Unearthing, the books we didn't inherit" is a feature-length documentary that delves into the family memory of its director, Maria Julia Blanco. The unearthing of her father's student library, forgotten since 1975 and recovered in 2018, serves as the starting point to explore identity, collective memory, and the construction of family memories. The stories of libraries buried during Argentina's last military dictatorship are a recurring narrative across the country, and Julia seeks to uncover what remains hidden in her own family history through the voices of others.
In the Blanco family history, the territory appears as part of the narrative to reveal some truth. Julia guides us from Rosario to San Gregorio (in the south of Santa Fe province) and to Laguna Paiva, in the center of the province, following the railway tracks, another buried national story.
Julia, a historian by profession, scientist, and bibliophile by choice, embraces her role as director using method, exposition, and analysis of the findings. The books, as evidence of what once was and what happened to them. In their deterioration, the cracks that accompany the narratives of our national history are also evident, and in this journey for truth, the numerous traces of the post-dictatorship era come to light.
