    • Synopsis
    • Amou is a boy living in Bami, a village built high on the Dogon cliffs at the southern edge of the Sahara Desert. Bami is preparing for the Festival of Stars, an event once every thirty years when the stars come together to decide good fortune or bad for a generation to come. Amou's father Khaladun disappeared into the desert soon after he was born and he now lives with mother Zamara, eking out a low-status living collecting fuel. He is an outsider with a head filled with dreams and no friends among the local children. He has already made an enemy of village chief Wati and is despised by Wati's vain daughter JoJo. Amou's only real friend is the old village shaman Dongoulan, who is ignored by all when he predicts that the evil sorcerer Mackhtan ag Makhtan is about to attack.
