    • Have you ever thought about what it’s like to to suddenly lose your memory? To not know who you are, where you are, what you’re doing there, or even what that thing you’re holding in your hand is called? Welcome to my world.
My name’s Witek. I used to be a gangster. Now, I’m fighting with Alzheimer’s.
I have achieved everything in my career, if you can even call it that. Power, money, women - well, I should say prostitutes, because men in my line of work can’t afford being in love. Love is a dangerous emotion. It can trap a man. And I always valued freedom and independence above all.
So, what can an old, lonely gangster do as he spends his retirement fighting a hopeless battle against an illness that will ultimately make a vegetable out of him? In my opinion, he has one was out: to die. And that’s what I’ve planned to do. Just like a cat. Have you ever seen and old, dying cat? Exactly. When cats feel that their time has come, they don’t drag it out until the last minute. They go off, find a secluded place, and leave with dignity.
The plan is pretty simple. I buy a house and some land in the Bieszczady mountains, build a wooden bench with a cubby hole for a few bottles of vodka atop a nearby hill, and wait for the right winter day. Until then, I rent out a high-end call girl to take care of the house. The plan seems perfect, doesn’t it?
Unless, the call-girl in question is visited by her “business associates” that have come to punish her for a number she pulled on their boss. I kill one of the men and let the other one go. After a few wonderful days with the girl, our quality time is interrupted by her boss, who returns hellbent to punish us both.
This is the story of a man who, when faced with a life or death situation, has nothing to lose. The film also tells the story of an aging call-girl who senses that her days in the business are coming to an end. She stands at a crossroads, having to decide what she’s going to do with the rest of her life.
Difficult decisions, gangster scores that won’t go unsettled, love, and an illness that turns everything upside down at the most unexpected moments. Welcome to the world of The Wounded Beast.
