Akinte (13) is enraptured trying to fall in love with the beautiful Cecilia, when life gives him a blow he did not expect: his beloved grandmother, Madora, falls ill with mountain sickness. Although the wise men try to cure her, their efforts are in vain and Akinte is in despair. However, the boy hears that on the other side of the jungle dwells a wise man capable of curing this terrible disease. So, Akinte sets out on an adventure, ready to cross the vast Chocoan jungle and face the dangers it hides. His bravery does not go unnoticed by the spirits of nature and the ancestral ethnic communities that live there. From the indigenous people he learns knowledge to communicate with nature; the Maroons teach him about the importance of unity; the gypsies explain to him how to free the soul. But it is the Guaco bird that gives him the power to see beyond time and space. Finally, exhausted but full of knowledge, he finds the wise Vigorio. But a new surprise awaits him: the venerable old man has been bewitched by the sorcerer Dorodoro. Akinte, motivated by his love for his grandmother, is not afraid to confront the sorcerer. In a great battle, in which he is on the verge of losing everything, he finally manages to defeat the terror of the bitter mountains and free the wise man who gives him the healing ointment. But will he be in time to save his beloved Madora?
