Neighbours since childhood, class-mates throughout their school days. Working-class Joseph Plender and middle-class Vincent Mandel. Vincent had his gang of sycophants and plenty of girl admirers. Unlike Plender: suffering at the hands of the gang, he was barely tolerated, on the condition that he consented to play victim to the cruellest jokes. Twenty years later, Joseph Plender is a very different person. On the material level, he's done well, even if his success has been achieved by dubious means. A photographer for the mail-order catalogue of a supermarket chain owned by his father-in-law, Vincent is in the middle of a divorce and devoting all his energy to getting part-custody of his two kids. When chance reunites these two men, it's in dramatic circumstances that offer Plender an extraordinary power over Vincent and will allow him to redress past grievances and finish old scores with his former class mate.
