- Luiz Gonzaga was born on the day of Saint Lucia. A musician who, with his accordion, opened the doors and introduced regional accordion music into the Brazilian cultural industry.
  On a trip across the country, The Miracle of Saint Lucia visits diverse regions where the accordion has gained prominence and in which many of its most important musicians were born. Exemplified by Dominguinhos, considered to be the most important accordion player in Brazil, and who in the film leads spectators on a journey throughout Brazil in his pickup truck. Dominguinhos has not flown on a plane for over thirty years.
  The film endeavors to understand the universe of the accordion and its musicians in each of these regions, touching on: the Northeasterners and their saga of migrant workers, who leave their homeland with the hope of one day returning; the pantaneiro (those from the flooded plains of Mato Grosso) and their contemplative attitude, linked to a natural pace of time; the gaucho (those from the southern grasslands) and their ode to traditions and pride in their homeland; the paulista (those from São Paulo) divided into traditional country traditions on one hand and on the other delving into the mixing-pot of metropolitan traditions, creating a style in which all others are present.
  Be it through the accordion, the concertina, or the “squeeze-box”, the film reveals all of them musically, demonstrating how this instrument is that most connected to the emotions and traditions of the Brazilian people as a whole.
