    • Synopsis
    • This film is the best and most complete visual and aural documentation of de Palenque culture on the Atlantic Coast of Colombia. It lets us experience the drums of the master Paulino Salgado Batata III, the film’s protagonist, the torn chants of the Lumbalú, the ckeeky, catchy sway of the Bullerengue, the joyful waggle of the Son, and the extraordinary warrior dances. It features the musicians, singers, dancers and drummers of San Basilio de Pelque, the descendants of the fugitive slaves who escaped from Cartagena de Indias some three hundred years ago.
