    • Synopsis
    • Sofia is a 19-year old girl who lives in a poor suburb of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. In her country, AIDS has become a national calamity, while men still reject the use of condoms.
Born in a very poor family, Sofia endures hardship every day to complete her schooling. She badly wants to enter University in order to fulfil her dream: to become a physician.
Her hardship worsens when a teacher starts sexually harassing her. She suspects he might be HIV-positive, yet the man stops at nothing, even manipulating the results of her final exam in Biology to force her to yield to his advances.
Her saga unfolds in a society in which, as Sofia’s mother and sister keep saying, to encourage a woman to study is tantamount to “watering another man’s garden”…
