In 1858, The Spartan, a military ship carrying on its board some 700 soldiers goes aground the rocks of Cani Island, off the coast of Tunisia. The British kingdom hence asks the Bey of Tunis, or chief constable, to erect a lighthouse in order to forestall other shipwrecks. Sadok Bay commissions the building of an eighteen-meter lighthouse and brings a couple from Sicily: Joseph Alacchi and Rosa Taranto, the lighthouse guards. They would light the building every day, from 1860 to 1870. Si Hmida, a fisherman from Cap Zebib would pay them visits to supply them with water and food. They lived for ten years on this small parcel of land in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. This script is loosely inspired from their story. It starts after an eternity has elapsed and another is drawing to a close.
