    • Synopsis
    • To some, pigeon racing is a hobby. To others, it’s a religion. Whichever way they perceive it, there’s no denying the outlandish nature of the sport and the pigeon fanciers’ devotion to it. Pigeons have been selling for millions of euro, drawing international attention to the sport and propelling it into a new professional era. This brings lavish opportunities for some racers while others are unable to keep up with the rising costs of the sport. Love it or loathe it, there’s never been a more exciting time to race pigeons.

Every year in South Africa, an outrageously high-stakes race attracts the very best pigeons from across the globe. Competitors from the poor townships of Johannesburg and the suburbs of Dublin will compete against wealthy American businessmen, Belgian pro racers and Chinese billionaires for the greatest pigeon accolade on the planet. Whilst the birds may connect these people, it’s the battle for the million dollars and the prestige that ultimately divides them.

This film will get inside the exciting lives of our diverse competitors, the organisation running this highly stressful event, and the army of elite pigeons who will fly 600 miles across the scorching hot South African plains in an incredibly tough race. Only the greatest pigeons will succeed!
