Venice. Police chief Alvise Barbarigo has abandoned the easy life of the Venetian nobility to avenge his father’s death, that he foresaw when he was a child but was unable to avoid. Despite his creepy premonitions, coming from a childhood shock connected to a Venetian mask, Alvise remains incapable to prevent homicides. Carrying a talent that is also a curse, he must suddenly unravel the murder case that involves Lucilla, the sister of Giulia, the woman that he loves and has left him years before when he hasn’t been able to save her parents. The death of Lucilla, killed while trying to reach Mount Gold Island to look for a relic with the American archaeologist Adam Palmer, is just the first sign of a terrorist plan that is menacing the city: the two criminal brothers Sebastiano and Giorgio Scarpa, deprived from their peerage by the Venetian Patricians of the secret Grand Council, are preparing their revenge on Mount Gold. The new challenge seems for Alvise a chance to reunite with Giulia and win her love back, but someone kidnaps her as soon as she arrives in Venice, while a trail of murders shocks the city. Saving Giulia becomes the only way for Alvise to reunite with the woman he loves, to placate his senses of guilt and to find a definitive confirmation of his value as a cop and as a man. Discovering the old Venetian mask that started his visions will clarify his premonitions and direct his investigations to Mount Gold, where the fight with the two brothers will give him a chance to put an end to the case and to discover a hidden truth behind the death of his father and the existence of the Grand Council, a hidden brotherhood that since the times of La Serenissima secretly controls the life of Venice.
