    • Synopsis
    • The Great- Grandmother Has Alzheimer's is a "conversation" between two lives that had an encounter but never met: Carmen and Olivia, great-grandmother and great granddaughter were on the same place in May 2007 in Guayaquil.
Olivia was six months old and today in spite of my insistence she can't recall the episode. Carmen was 94 and had advanced Alzheimer's. She couldn't recall any episode.
The encounter was innocently filmed to bring pictures to the family but as time goes by, it has started a lot of questions about the history of one memory that was fading as another memory was forming itself.
On one side I have filmed the first four years of my daughter Olivia, people say you remember little or nothing from those times. I have also collected stories and writings about my grandmother Carmen, a writer from the social-realism era, a musician and one of the first female doctors in Guayaquil.
We all learn to remember, we all fight against forgetfulness. They never met but in a way belong to each other. This film is about their diverging memories and the universe that unites them.
