- The Great Irish Famine in the mid-19th century was one of the most devastating events in Irish history. Between 1845 and 1852, potato blight hit the island's potato crop. The potato was a staple item of food in Ireland, so many years without a good harvest led to mass starvation, disease, and the deaths of nearly a million people and emigration of another million to different parts of the world. In Ireland the Great Famine and it is the most painfully sad story that most of the world not know about a tiny chapter of that history. When the Ottoman Empire heard of this disaster and offered Queen Victoria £10,000 to help the people of Ireland, Queen Victoria refused the offer of £10,000 but she said The Ottoman could donate only £1000 becouse as she had given £2000 herself. The Ottoman Empire did send the £1000 but in secret also sent over 5 ships of food to help the struggling country. during their hour of need, the great famine - the most devastating and traumatic period in Ireland's history
  
  SYNOPSIS
  A story of true love in a time where survival became a way of life. Mary, a kind, gentle girl, with poetry talent, wished only to know what true love feels like. When James, an English Captain with a harsh reputation and sense of entitlement, wills Mary to be his wife, he becomes determined to let nothing stand in the way of his desire. An Ottoman Sultan sends an expedition to Ireland after hearing of a nation in need. Fatih, an Ottoman sailor, proves himself worthy of the voyage and sets course to Ireland. Upon his arrival and much to his horror, the rumours of the Irish plight are far worse than could ever be imagined. When James detects Mary and Fatih have fallen in love, he uses his influence as Captain and stops at nothing to keep them apart . Fatih must return to the Sultan to inform him of the FAMINE and the urgent need for aid. Before parting on this voyage he promises Mary he will return and they will one day be happily married in Turkey. In the absence of Fatih, James pursues Mary for her hand in marriage. Will she accept in order to save her family from starvation or will Fatih return in time to be Mary’s saviour
