    • Synopsis
    • In 1998, serial killer William Allen Grone was convicted of 13 felony counts including rape, torture and murder. During a subsequent search of his residence, investigators discovered evidence linking him to the disappearance of several people dating back to March of 1995. The evidence gathered included Grone’s journal, and a canister containing two-and-a-half minutes of Super 8 film. In his journal, Grone refers to the Super 8 footage as, “The Great American Snuff Film”. The feature length film, “The Great American Snuff Film” is a dramatization of the events documented in Grone’s Journal. It concludes with his film.
The film (written and directed by Sean Tretta, and starring Mike Marsh and Ryan Hutman) depicts a six-day period (as recorded in Grone’s journal) during March of 1995, in which Grone and his accomplice Roy Walker kidnapped two young women and held them captive in preparation for an elaborate “snuff” film. Based on Grone’s personal journal, the film faithfully dramatizes the horror of these events while simultaneously giving insight into Grone’s mind and the crimes of his past. What results is a chilling portrayal of deprived obsession and madness that culminates with the shocking “real-life” footage of Grone’s crime.
