Synopsis
It is equal parts amazed and intrigued when first seeing Piramida, the Russian mining town on Svalbard that is left unoccupied back as it was a fictional scenario of post 3 World War. Men are gone, but the minimalist concrete apartment blocks stand back and testify to the life that was. Here goes the Danish band Efterklang ashore to collect site melancholy and soul in the form of small sound bites that form the setting for their latest album, "Piramida". Flanked by their taciturn and not visibly impressed Russian guide, this group hunting in the empty buildings, while the film takes us back to a bygone era where Piramida flourished, and the newly arrived Russian miners and their families lived in a Soviet parallel societies far away from the mother country horrors.
