    • Synopsis
    • Japan, 1600. The country is divided. Two peasants are on their way home from the city, when they find a dying samurai by the side of the road. A scroll falls from the samurai's belt, which has been colored crimson by his blood. This is the Crimson Scroll, the samurai's diary. The two peasants don't quite understand the entries; nonetheless impressions of Nisijima's path, his views on life, and his reunion with a friend are revealed. Nisijima Kensho, is on a lonely and secret mission: he has to deliver a message. But an enemy tries to prevent the message from being delivered. The man sent to intercept the delivery is none other than Kensho's childhood friend. Both of them are loyal to the world they serve. There remains no other alternative for them except a fight to the death.
