    • Synopsis

    • Rites of passage, as well as travels, set the transition from one stage to another, living the experience of symbolic death and rebirth. Among the Yshiro, indigenous people of the Paraguayan Chaco, the rite of initiation of children into the adult world, is performed over 3 months in the bush, away from family.
There they learn the culture: ethical, moral and natural values. They live the experience of Sacred Unity between the individual and the group. Back to the community they are grown men.
In recent years, pressure from Western Culture reduced living space and ancestral activities of the Yshiro, causing many families to migrate to the cities, living a process that dramatically transformed this Sacred Unity.

A production by Grupo Documenta and Unión de Comunidades Indígenas de la Nación Yshir (UCINY).
With the support of Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales (INCAA Argentina), International Development Research Centre (Canadá) – Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (Canadá) and Culturas en Contacto.
