    • Synopsis
    • An isolated church is taken hostage by Caleb with a suicide vest, shotgun and mission to kill. To their horror, Caleb reveals his sinister plan; to film and upload Pastor Mike apologizing for preying upon the sick, before being executed.

To save his congregation and teenage daughter, Mike obeys Caleb’s demands, however, when the video cannot be uploaded Caleb releases one hostage. After much bickering, tough guy Ian is picked to complete the upload and return with proof, but for every minute he is late, a hostage will be killed.

As Ian stumbles through the woods, the anxious hostages turn on each other. Andie and her boyfriend Hank break-up when she confesses she’s not a virgin; senior couple Tom and Vera practically lynch new guy, Pete, a smart-mouthed atheist; 12 year old Conor hides his little sister, Bella, in turn risking all of their lives, and terminally-ill Dollie pushes Caleb to the brink of his sanity when she brings up his dead wife.

Ian suffers a fatal heart attack in the woods and thus, misses his deadline, threatening the lives of the hostages. In the truest act of love, the oldest congregation member, Tom, offers to be the first hostage killed. As Caleb holds the gun to the old man’s head, he simply cannot bring himself to pull the trigger.

The hostages see the only person whose life is really in danger is Mike’s and that Caleb has no intention of hurting them.

When middle-aged, spinster, Jill, hatches a plan to help Mike escape, she enlists the help of single mum, Nikki, and the ladies put their differences aside for the common good. Their plan works and Mike escapes but rather than back down, Caleb snaps. Still set on exposing Mike and the church, Caleb decides one way or another he will get the media’s attention – by blowing them all up.

Outside the church, Mike and local policeman, Sergeant Randall wait for backup. Mike becomes anxious about the fate of his daughter and congregation. When Randall refuses to help without backup, Mike takes matters into his own hands by holding young Constable Hobbs at knifepoint and insisting Randall encourage Caleb out.

The plan doesn’t work and Mike, aware of the danger inside, offers himself to Caleb if he releases the hostages. Caleb agrees and Mike enters his beloved church to deliver a final message. But this public apology isn’t wooden or forced, it’s heartfelt and raw.

Caleb cannot help but see that Mike is just a man, trying his best to do God’s work on this miserable earth. When Caleb’s wife’s dying wishes are also revealed through an old prayer request, lying dormant in the church’s prayer box, Caleb backs down to give himself up to the authorities. However, the 12 hostages, in an act of forgiveness send the police on a wild goose chase in the woods to allow Caleb to flee the scene.

Shocked by the act of grace upon him, Caleb gets in his car and drives away.

As they huddle near the church, the hostages hear a massive explosion nearby - Caleb still had his suicide vest on.
