- The title "Pancake" refers to Suga's favorite food, a sweet tooth. Immediately after taking office, Suga held a "pancake round-table conference" with political reporters from major media outlets on the premise of "complete off-record," and pressed for a "fumi-e" asking "whether to eat pancakes or not?" He is famous for "Uncle Reiwa" when he was a Chief Cabinet Secretariat and for his battle with reporter Isoko Mochizuki of the Tokyo Shimbun, but what exactly is he thinking, what is the difference from the Abe administration, and is he worthy of entrusting the lives of the Japanese people with his countermeasures against COVID-19? This documentary thoroughly examines his responses to questions in the Diet and explores what is hidden behind the nation's leader's poker face.
  During the film, politicians such as Shigeru Ishiba and Kenji Eda, former bureaucrats such as Kihei Maekawa, and journalists and experts from various fields make appearances. The documentary dives deep into what kind of person Yoshihide Suga is, what the Suga administration is aiming for, and where it will go from here. The tone of the film is not one about cruelly disagreeing or attempting to uncover a scandal, but to think about the "weird aspects" of the Suga administration and Japan as a country from various angles while sprinkling in some black humor and satirical animation.
