    • Synopsis
    • As a young boy gets lost in the maze of subway trains in New York City, we are taken on an authentic journey into a family’s struggles. Ricky is a 13-year-old with autism, fighting each day to cope with school and everyday life. As an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, his mother tries to balance the intense care he needs with her limited resources as a maid. His teenage sister tries to help out while trying to fit in with her peers. His father is far from home, looking for work.
One day Ricky is unsupervised and follows signs – imaginary dragons, symbolism, circles – that take him into the subway system where he literally cannot escape. Already stretched to their limits, the entire family searches for Ricky while he descends deeper into his own pilgrimage and a hurricane approaches. By following this unique family’s journey with a sensitive realism, director Sam Fleischner creates a subtle exploration of America’s complex problems that hit us all, whether through economics or the natural world itself.
