    • Synopsis
    • A life like winter…
To trumpeter Hyeon-Woo, life seems to remain forever locked in winter. His dream of becoming a member of a symphony orchestra seeming murkier and farther away with each step. Unable to provide the life for his girl Yeon-hee that he thinks she deserves, he breaks up with her; but Hyeon-woo continues to be haunted by Yeon-hee’s presence, further evidence of his failure in life and in music.
But the Trees Have Been Silently Awaiting the Advent of Spring
In desperation, Hyeon-Woo signs up for a position teaching a children’s wind ensemble at a small junior high school in distant Dogye village, high in the hills of Gangwon Province. Worn-out instruments, tarnished trophies and frayed certificates testify to the poor conditions of this ragtag group. Only by winning first place at an upcoming music contest will the financially strapped school be willing to continue the much-loved band. This leads Hyeon-Woo, together with his students, to take on a seemingly impossible challenge. They cannot guarantee the win, but they cannot give up either. Hyeon-Woo cannot ignore the fervor for music that is starting to take root in his students’ hearts.
And Then Suddenly, Spring Has Sprung
Although he spends his days with his students, busily preparing for the championship, Hyeon-Woo feels a stinging pain every time he comes across the shadow of his past love. With the patient and tender friendship of Su-Yeon, the village pharmacist, Hyun-Woo comes to feel the warm breezes of spring billowing across his heart once again.
Hyeon-Woo soon learns about unselfish love from the villagers. The people who have steadfastly stood by Hyeon-Woo without a shadow of doubt… Hyeon-Woo learns of this love, a love that is budding in so many hearts. Love that can never die.
The winter soon passes, unknowingly for Hyeon-Woo, and somehow, when he least expects it, he feels spring advancing once more.
