    • Synopsis
    • With the romantic myth of the Old South serving as the backdrop, two present day best friends
plot out a course for achieving their dream of making it to the big city. While times have changed –
stately gentlemen have turned into honorable law enforcement officials, landed gentry have moved
into co-oped condos, and horse drawn carriages have given way to the power of American muscle
cars – the drama of the Old South lives on in the heart this romantic comedy. On the way to reaching
the big city, the direction and the destinations of the two Southern Belles appear to diverge in
this interpretation of the land of Dixie.
Living in the rural Georgian town of Johnson’s Mark, two best friends, Bell and Belle, have grown
weary of their lives. The solution seems simple: pack up and move to Atlanta – but for our heroines,
it’s not so simple. Money is a scarce resource and coming up with cash – that’s serious business.
Just when they begin to build their nest egg, Bell’s eyes meet those of the handsome deputy that
happens to share the same name as her ideal man, Rhett Butler. Sparks fly, as do turkey feathers,
and the stars guiding Bell’s universe appear to shift.
Sensing love in the air, a cynical and insecure Belle intesifies her efforts to keep Bell concentrated
on the realization of their dream. However, along the way, Belle’s frustration mounts while the girls’
mason jar of money remains half empty, and she begins to question her friend’s loyalty. Belle’s determination
to fulfill her own dream clouds her sense of friendship, as she becomes more and more
manipulative in her quest to move up and out.
While Rhett seems to be what Bell has always been looking for, Belle has been her best friend since
she was “knee high to a grasshopper.” Torn between her unexpected love for Rhett, her hesitation
with love due to encounters with her “all class,” beer guzzling ex-boyfriend, and her desire to reach
Atlanta with her best friend, Bell is forced to make a decision that will drastically change the direction
of three lives at once…a choice she never thought she’d ever have to make.
