    • Synopsis
    • Brokeback Mountain ended with death. Songs of Eternal Love begins there; a love story that transcends culture, religions and continents.

Humza, a young Sufi musician, living with his partner Aaron, a middle aged Jewish professor, is killed in a car crash on his 27th birthday. On his deathbed he pleads with Aaron, “Tell Ammi I fulfilled her wish”. Aaron has just 15 days to find Humza’s family, not only to fulfill Humza’s last wish, but also to get a letter signed by his family to release his body, as he had no family in Canada.

With time ticking, Aaron travels through India searching for Humza’s family - through bustling streets of Mumbai where the LGBTQ community is rejoicing with new found freedom, to the sand beaches of Goa, into the backwaters of Kerala where he meets Humza’s traditional Muslim family who regard homosexuality as a disease, a depravity, and a sin against Allah.

In a chilling climax, when the communalists come baying for Aaron’s blood, it is finally the ever quiet Ammi who stands up to save her son’s lover and proclaim acceptance.

Songs of Eternal Love swings between Canada and India, to portray a transformational journey - physical, emotional and spiritual.
