    • Synopsis
    • Helene, 26, is in Martinique with her mother, who is visiting from France, as she does every summer. When a strange letter comes in addressed to Helene, life is shattered for the young girl who discovers that the father whom she had been told was dead all of her life, had in fact been alive and well in the neighbouring island of St Lucia. Faced with the prospect of a sizeable inheritance for her daughter, mother is forced to reveal “the truth” behind her daughter’s existence. To claim the inheritance Helene must travel to St Lucia, where she has been made trustee of the estate, a duty she shares with her father’s widow, Aimee.
The meeting between Aimee and Helene is full of mistrust, suspicion and restrained jealousy. Helene carries a deep resentment for the woman whom she has been told robbed her of the opportunity to know her father. The two women embark on an odyssey across St Lucia with an urn bearing her late father's remains. Aimee teaches Helene about her father as they journey to the important spots which were sentimental for the man whose life they seek to honour, as they distribute his ashes in each special place.
Meanwhile in Martinique, Helene’s mother is growing impatient with her daughter’s indecision, whether to sell the entire estate , or to restore it to its former agricultural production glory. To help Helene make a decision, mother enlists the help of a French lawyer Xavier, with interests in St Lucia. Xavier convinces Helene that it is in her best interest to transform the estate into a world class golf resort. What Xavier dos not reveal is that he too will make alot of money from the sale, as he has interests in the real estate company that would oversee the development.
Caught between honouring her dead father's legacy or conceding to her mother's plans for progress, Helene must make the ultimate decision, one that will affect not just herself but the entire existence of le Paradis.
