- Synopsis
- Four middle-aged gamblers hit the road and gamble from motel to motel. In a northern town, one of them is swindled by a young girl into a nowhere game. He loses quite a bit of money. He tracks the girl down. He forgives her and bares his feelings for her. She insults him but realizes that he's a harmless old retiree buying his time on the road. Sometimes she lets him see her and he would feel ecstatic. She is his source of happiness, albeit at times she seems distant and cold. But she can also be very tender towards him. She has a way of getting money from him and he doesn't mind. As his obsession intensifies he makes up his mind to leave his family. His son and daughter come to beg him to go home but he refuses. He cannot see past the day and is unable to explain his estranged heart to his family.
