    • Auckland, 1959 when Mahora (19), a beautiful Maori woman meets Nuki Waaka (23), a handsome and charismatic muscician, she begins a passionate relationship. Very soon, the chaste and church-going Mahora falls pregnant…
      Sydney, 1963. Mahora (24) nd Nuki (28), now married with two children are struggling to find work in Sydney. Their luck changes when they meet Bob Parker, an agent who wants to create a Maori Showband to compete for a lucrative touring contract.
      Mahora and Nuki meet Prince Tui Teka, Gimmick, Hector and Billy Peters, an attractive, humble, brilliant musician. The Maori Volcanics are born. At the competition for the contract, the Volcanics win top prize. But the beginning of Mahora's professional dream brings the end of her happy married life in the world of showbiz. Mahora finds Nuki surrounded by women - slowly their relationship falls apart.
      United Kingdom 1968 - 1970. After successfully touring Australia, Bob Parker takes the Volcanics to the UK where they prove to be an unlikely success. Professionally, Mahora has achieved everything she had always wanted, but backstage tensions have reached an unprecendented high: Mahora endures the shame and pain of Nuki constantly cheating on her…she desperately misses her children in New Zealand…and she is breaking her back keeping the band together. But the main problem is a secret. Mahora has fallen in love…with Billy Peters; and Billy loves her too.
      After resisting a feared but unavoidable attraction, Mahora finally surrenders to true love during a performance in Vietnam, and begins a passionate but bitter-sweet affair with Billy which causes her bliss and agony. Will Mahora be brave enough to leave Nuki for Billy? Is the band going to survive the affair if it's ever discovered? How is Mahora meant to keep performing under the spotlight when her life is falling apart?
