This film lands squarely in the world of US/Cuban relations and so is very timely given Castro’s stepping down. The film focus on an important political event where Cuban American pilots flew “humanitarian” missions over Cuban soil in violation of international law and were shot down by the Cubans. The case raised tremendous issues of whether Cuba was acting in justified self defense or whether these pilots were actually acting aggressively with a political agenda. The film was released theatrically in a number of markets, mostly in Florida and got great reviews. For instance, The Miami Herald review described the film as “revealing and moving” and the Orlando Sentinel called it “gutsy”.
