Rima is a young orphan. Her adoptive family lives in a remote Algerian village
at the edge of the desert. Though illiterate, she is full of curiosity and dreams
of a different life beyond the sandy horizon. When the foreman refuses to pay them a decent
wage, they begin an interminable strike.
