    • Synopsis
    • Queensland 1888 -- RED EARTH tells the story of a young Chinese bride brought to a Queensland sugar cane plantation to marry the head of a Chinese work gang. Desperate to escape her loveless marriage, she embarks on an erotic game with the plantation owner to buy back her freedom. The film promises to be a landmark project because of its subject matter concerning the Chinese in Queensland in the 1800’s - not previously dealt with in an Australian feature film. It will be a bilingual English-Chinese language film.
