A dark shadow flies across the skies of downtown Tokyo. A special program looking into extraterrestrial sightings in Tokyo is featured on TV. Tatsuya Tagami, 32, is the president of a web comic publishing company, a business he started in his 20s after moving to Tokyo from the countryside. While he has achieved fortune and fame, he has no friends or family to speak of. To fill the void of his loneliness, he throws himself into work during the day, then into the arms of unknown women and top shelf alcohol at night. One morning, he wakes up in a hotel room to discover that he no longer has a penis. He rushes to the hospital, but they have no idea how this could have happened. Not knowing where to turn, he searches the web to discover the mysterious site for the Popran Club and decides to join one of their meetings. At the meeting, the club’s president, Furuta, tells his story. “Popran have their own will and often run away from their hosts,” he says. Popran is what they call a penis here. He continues, “They flap their alpit (testicles) like wings to move at speeds of 150 km/h. If you don’t catch and repair (surgically re-attach) your popran within six days, it will die.” Remembering that Furuta told him that he would know where his popran travels to, Tatsuya sets off to trace his steps through the city and find his missing popran, leading him to a colleague he once cut off, his estranged wife and daughter and his parents, who he hasn’t met for over a decade since being disowned. Can Tatsuya catch his popran?
