    • Synopsis
    • Raps is a young man, from a poor Northern area of PE, who works as a tour guide in the city. He was a passionate and gifted dancer growing up but now his top priority has become money. Wendell, the leader of Raps’ old dance crew, sprains his leg and needs Raps to take his place at Club Valentine’s as a back up dancer. Raps only agrees if he can take the lion’s share of the earnings, and when he gets home, we finally realise why he’s so money obsessed. His parents have passed on and he’s raising his younger brother, Earl.
Raps performs at Valentine’s alongside the other dancers supporting local rapper Kuli Chana, but when Raps forgets the dance moves, he starts to free style. His moves are unreal and the audience goes crazy and he completely upstages his crew. He draws the eyes of two important people. The first is Queen. A beautiful ice-cold singer, and South African celebrity, and Valentine, her husband and manager, a brutish thug. Valentine hires Raps as a choreographer and dance support for Queen to help take her act to the next level as the release of her new album approaches.
Raps enters the world of Valentine’s and slowly begins falling in love with Queen. When she gets sick Raps sees the opportunity to stage a massive dance event and use local dancers from the Flats to try and lift dance to another level. He does a spectacular show and Valentine is hugely impressed and wants Raps to bring in more dance acts to the club.
Raps has fallen deeper and deeper in love with Queen, and as much as she might outwardly deny it, she’s also fallen in love with him. Too bad that Valentine is an abusive and violent man, with a great deal of criminal connections and power.
Raps does his best to convince Queen to leave Valentine and they nearly kiss, but she gets cold feet and rejects him. Unbeknown to either of them Valentine has been watching them on the close circuit television. Valentine has them brought to his penthouse office where he loses his temper and in a violent rage flings Raps out of the window.
Raps survives the fall but his legs are broken, as are his spirit. Valentine puts out a press release saying that Raps got so drunk that he struck Queen and tripped and fell out the window. Queen is terrified and publicly supports this story. Raps returns to the Flats, where he believes he is nothing and no one, until he realises just how much the community loves and supports him, and is willing to help him redeem his good name, stop Valentine, and save Queen.
Raps concocts a plan to take Valentine down. He’s going to use everyone, from Wendell and the old dance crew, to an eccentric bouncer called Chicco, to his best friend’s circle of ‘aunties.’ Wendell tricks Valentine into revealing some of the terrible things he has done, and then gets Queen to trick Valentine’s bouncers into eating dodgy food, and Chicco provides new bouncers to ensure easy access to the club for Raps and his team.
The crew arrive and perform an amazing dance show in which Raps tells the true story of what happened - accompanied by visual layers on the stage LED screens of Valentine revealing the truth himself. Raps thinks he has won, but Valentine has taken Queen and gone to his penthouse - and sent his thugs to bring Raps to see him there.
Raps and Queen look like they are about to die, and Valentine is sure he will never get bust, and he attempts to throw Raps to his death - again. But this time, Queen is not going to sit by and watch, and she bashes Valentine’s thug to the ground and joins the struggle to stop Valentine throwing Raps out.
Valentine accidentally ends up being flipped over Raps and tumbles out the window falling to his doom. Queen and Raps look at each other. It’s all over. They can be together - they kiss as the moon rises behind them through the window.
Dance crews become the new sensation in club entertainment.
