    • Synopsis
    • The raccoons of the Tama Hills, on the outskirts of Tokyo, have always lived untroubled and in harmony with their surroundings. Now they face disaster: these peaceful animals are being forced from their forest homes by ruthless human development, as the woodlands are destroyed and the hills flattened to make room for housing projects.
The older, wiser raccoons propose a plan to fight back against the human menace, by employing the ancient magical art of metamorphosis. After much training, some of the raccoons are able to transform themselves into objects, or even humans.
Their fight begins well, as they trick and terrify their human enemies in a variety of ingenious ways, but eventually the humans get wise, and the battle turns tragic.
Finally the raccoons are forced to seek the help of the foxes from a neighbouring forest who have already given up their struggle, and are living as humans in the city.
