    • Alonso and Laura are a well respected family in a small and remote town in México. Alonso owns a declining mine that is the only hope for many to have a decent job in the region, and therefore he and Laura are frequently asked to be godfathers in weddings and baptisms. Laura has tried for several years to get pregnant, and now, even though she is a conservative Christian, she is willing to try some pagan methods to achieve her goal. Her wished seem to finally become true, and she announces it to Alonso, who, faking his excitement, goes for a walk into the mine to find peace. There, in the dark, he discovers a bad injured migrant who manage to escape an ambush organized by the cartels and the police. A forbidden attraction emerges between the both, unleashing the worst fears of the small town.
