- In the Smug art world, innocence perishes. This is the discovery experienced firsthands by Penelope, a young woman who, after embarking on a series of insignificant relationships, arrives at a field of new experiences, some sort of moral abyss she will find herself trapped in more and more.
  At first, Penélope seems devoted to revealing the fauna related to the world linked, one way or another to artistic production -the obstinacy of their gestures, their dialectic whims, their painstaking repertoire of gibberish-to then suddenly concentrate on the adventures of a girl named Penélope. The young woman experiences, over the course of a few hours, the unstable territory of parties, fleeting encounters and detachments traveled by a downhearted army of satellites whose center of attraction could constitute the mystery of the film. Penélope can be seen either as a portrait of beings that disguise their hopelessness with vanity and arrogance or as a comedy of manners whose secret malevolence affects the characters while they still have hopes of an unlikely redemption.
