    • Synopsis
    • Lost soul Adele arrives early at the shadowy hotel of Limbo, where she discovers she can only progress to Heaven or Hell once she has beaten bellboy employee Gabe in a game of chess. With the help of long-term fellow guest Leigh - a gracefully dissipated, languid and drunken vamp, in residence since the 1930's - Adele grows more comfortable and contented with her fate, only to start questioning her surroundings when, different from the other guests, she begins to experience all kinds of tormenting pain. Is she really where she thinks she is? Is Gabe really who he says he is? How can anyone in charge of eternity be so callous and heartless as to constantly checkmate every opponent in an eternal tournament of chess? Is Adele even really dead, or is she merely a pawn in some much larger game?
